ICEC 2025
The 13th International Conference on Environmental Catalysis (ICEC2025) will be held on June 2-5 (Monday-Thursday), 2025 at "SARACEN SANDS HOTEL & CONGRESS CENTRE" in Isola delle Femmine (Palermo, Sicily - Italy). The conference follows the ICEC2022 that was held at Kansai University in Osaka, Japan from July 30 to August 2, 2022. The conference is the major event in environmental catalysis.

After three decades, in a deep transition period to a new low-carbon economy, ICEC back to Italy to discuss the future of environmental catalysis.
The conference sub-title is "Addressing the new challenges", because aims to redefine the fundamental and applied research on environmental catalysis to address the 2050 challenges.

The congress is organized by ERIC aisbl (European Research Institute of Catalysis) in collaboration with the Italian Group of Catalysis (GIC) and the Division of Industrial Chemistry of the Italian Chemical Society (SCI), and the contribution of the University of Messina (Italy), Politecnico Milano (Italy) and Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH (Germany).

Venue
ICEC 2025 will be held in Saracen Sands Hotel located at Isola delle Femmine, about 15 minutes from the airport of Palermo “Falcone Borsellino”, about 45 minutes from the Trapani Birgi airport and only 15 minutes from the city center of one of the most beautiful cities in the Mediterranean - Palermo, the Arab-Norman capital, cradle of many cultures with a priceless charm, is famous for its traditions and food.

The Hotel is in a unique location, overlooking the wonderful bay with crystal clear water. The surrounding landscape, characterized by the Saracen tower of Isola delle Femmine, shines among cobalt blue colors and the sparkling white beach. Saracen Sands Hotel offers a brand new Charme & Relax Wellness Area.
The 237 rooms of the Hotel have a typical Mediterranean design with Sicilian stylistic references.

The Congress Centre, integrated in the Hotel, has 14 meeting rooms, up to 1000 participants. There is ample space for discussion inside the Hotel and in the garden and bars, or the two swimming pools.

Conference Theme
Fundamental and applied research on environmental catalysis and catalysts to address the 2050 challenges (a resilient and zero-carbon society). Topics will include, but are not limited to:
  • Automotive and stationary emission control
  • Air cleaning and combustion
  • Water treatment
  • Sustainable and clean energy production and transport
  • Catalysis to electrify the chemical production
  • Green chemistry and biomass transformation, renewable resources conversion
  • Circular economy
  • CO2 utilization and recycling
  • H2 storage and transportation, green H2 production, hydrogen vectors
  • Photocatalysis and photoelectrocatalytic approaches, solar energy utilization
  • Advanced process with electrocatalysis and plasma utilization
  • Fundamental advances in understanding catalysis
  • Multiscale modeling and advanced simulation aspects

It will be a 4 full days conference, from Monday to Thursday, ending with the banquet. Three parallel sessions are planned, organized according to above conference themes, and some thematic mini simposia. The scientific program will consist of Plenary and Keynote lectures, chosen to highlight new trends and opportunities for environmental catalysis, and orals/short orals/poster presentation. Awards for best posters and other ways to valorize them will be given.
An exhibition area is present. The social programme includes a Welcome Party, an ending Banquet and a Sicilian evening.
